A Brief Introduction to CUEB

Capital University of Economics and Business, a merger of the Beijing College of Economics and the Beijing Trade and Finance Institute, is a key university under Beijing Government. It was founded in 1956. Over the years, CUEB has developed into a comprehensive educational institution with an emphasis on economics & management, covering seven major areas: Economics, Management, Medicine, Literature, Science of Law, and Science & Engineering.


The university is divided into fourteen schools & departments. The undergraduate education of CUEB maintains 31 Bachelor's degree programs. The graduate school is comprised of 21 Master's degree programs and 3 Ph.D. programs. The number of students studying at CUEB exceeds 20000; this includes doctoral students, master students, bachelor students, diploma students, International students, adult students, and correspondence students.
The university has a high caliber teaching and research team including 93 full professors, 281 associate professors, 225 senior lecturers, 20 doctor candidate advisors, and 182 master candidate advisors.


CUEB has two campuses. The east campus, which is the main campus, is located at Hongmiao, within the Beijing Central Business District (CBD) of Chaoyang District. This location is very near the embassy area. The west campus is located in Huaxiang, Fengtai District, within the Zhongguancun High-Tech Development Park.


There are several research institutes affiliated with the university: They are the Institutes of Economics, Population Studies, Capital Economy and Real Estate Studies, CBD Development research center, WTO research center, and the Quantitative Economics research center. Four learning journals are edited and published for national and international distribution, they are: Journal of Capital University of Economics and Business, Research on Economics and Management, Population and Economy, and Contemporary Managers.


As China becomes increasingly open to the outside world, CUEB had expanded its overseas contacts. It now maintains permanent exchange and cooperation with more than 30 overseas universities and is involved in joint programs with UN agencies, educational and research institutions, and social organizations in more than 50 countries. The MPA/CPA program run jointly by CUEB and Deakin University of Australia is one of the joint programs approved by the Academic Degree Committee of the State Council of the People's Republic of China to award overseas degrees. In recent years, the university has dispatched hundreds of scholars to study and present lectures abroad, or to attend international conferences.
The university has set up the College of International Cultural Exchange and Chinese Language Teaching Center. The Center hosts around 500 foreign students every year from more than 50 countries, as well as the regions of Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan, for undergraduate and graduate courses, Chinese language courses, and Economics course study. Many graduates from CUEB have become Friendship ambassadors of business and cultural communication to China.
